Zur Feier des ersten 25-jährigen Bestehens des dynamischen Musizierens beauftragten die Vasari Singers zehn Komponisten, jeweils eine Hymne zu schreiben, die in ihren Augen den Zustand der Welt zu Beginn des neuen Jahrtausends widerspiegeln sollte.
Der Auftrag besagte, dass jedes Werk als Hymne in einem Abendlied einer anglikanischen Kathedrale geeignet sein sollte und dass es auch über alle Zwänge der Liturgie oder formalen religiösen Doktrin hinausblicken könnte, um ein breiteres, ökumenisches Publikum anzusprechen. Vielleicht etwas Humanistischeres, das in den multikulturellen, multireligiösen Gesellschaften der neuen Welt des 21. Jahrhunderts eine Stimme haben würde? (challengerecords. com)
