Das 2005 entstandene Oratorium entstand als Auftragswerk der Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis als Geschenk an die jüdische Gemeinde zum Gedenken an den 60. Jahrestag der Befreiung der Überlebenden von Auschwitz. Gleichzeitig will das Oratorium eine Mahnung sein: Die Verantwortung dafür, dass so etwas nicht wieder passiert, liegt in den Händen der Kinder von heute. Ein bewegendes Werk um die ewigen Grundfragen von Menschlichkeit, Toleranz und Achtung.
