Niemals gehörte der Kossuth-Preisträger Sugár zur kompositorischen Avantgarde, und das wollte er auch gar nicht. Sugár war Pragmatiker; seiner Ansicht nach muss eine Komposition durch gutes thematisches Material und rhythmische Raffinesse das Publikum fesseln. Die drei Kompositionen auf dieser CD sind in diesem Geist geschaffen, von der 1954 entstandenen Suite, einem seiner ersten Werke, bis zur Partita von 1967.
