Die DVD- und Buch-Edition lädt zu einer Zeitreise ins 19.Jahrhundert ein und zeichnet die Entstehung von Edgar Degas’ berühmter „Kleinen vierzehnjährigen Tänzerin“ in Texten und Originalbildern nach. Seine Skulptur verbindet Kunst-Schönheit und harte Realität – denn die „Kleine Tänzerin“ war in Wirklichkeit ein Mädchen aus armen Verhältnissen, das als Modell ihr Geld zum Überleben verdienen musste… Ballettdirektorin Brigitte Lefèvre ließ aus den Recherchen von Martine Kahane gemeinsam mit dem Choreographen Patrice Bart das berührende Ballett La Petite Danseuse de Degas entstehen. Die Opéra national de Paris ging so auf die Suche nach der Identität des eigenen Hauses.
