Im Jahr 1630 wurde Italien von einer seltsamen Krankheit namens »Tarantismus« heimgesucht. Es wurde auf einen Spinnenbiss mit abwechselnden Symptomen von Hochgefühl und Erschöpfung zurückgeführt. Tarantella sind bezaubernde Lieder und Tänze, die den Patienten heilen sollen, indem sie einen Trancezustand erzeugen.
Es geht ein eigenartiger Zauber von diesem Album aus, so als wäre es mit einer geheimen Tinktur getränkt. Aber auch ohne jegliche Alchemie: nach den ersten Takten nimmt die Musik den Hörer sofort gefangen.
