The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Der finnische Komponist schreibt vorwiegend für großes Orchester – bisher sind zwischen 1969 und 2010 nicht weniger als 15 Sinfonien entstanden, die sich nicht zuletzt durch exquisite Orchestrierung und ungewöhnliche Besetzungen auszeichnen. Aber Aho kann auch anders: seine drei Kammersymphonien zeigen, zu welcher Expressivität er auch beim Einsatz von „nur“ gut 20 Streichern fähig ist. Die Ansprüche an das Ensemble sind immens. Bei der Kammersymphonie 3 tritt zu den Streichern ein Solopart für Saxophon, geschrieben für John-Edward Kelly, der das Solo auch bei dieser Aufnahme übernahm. Aho selbst spricht von einem Zwitter zwischen Kammersymphonie und Saxophonkonzert, inspiriert von arabischer Musizierpraxis.
