In der Hamburger Musikhalle fand im März 1950 diese Aufnahme statt, die dann beim amerikanischen Label Royale mit falschen Interpretenangaben (Pseudonyme) erschien.
Eine erstaunlich »moderne« Interpretation durch Schmidt-Isserstedt, weit entfernt vom schwülstigem Romantisieren so manches seiner Zeitgenossen, dabei aber auch mit dem Mut, die Solisten in ihrer Expressivität nicht einzuschränken und damit weniger blutarm als so manche aktuelle Einspielung in historischer Aufführungspraxis.
