Sowohl die Struktur als auch der Stil sind in beiden Kantaten gleich: Die Vokalstimmen zeigen eine typisch italienische, opernartige Virtuosität, während wir in der instrumentalen Textur, mit einem Orchester aus Oboen, Hörnern und Streichern, Sammartinis symphonische Merkmale erkennen. Was den Zeitgenossen Sammartinis auffiel, war die rhythmische Vitalität und das Streben nach Kontrasten, kurz gesagt, der Charakter des Komponisten, der sich unmittelbar von der Musik abhob. Auch dem modernen Hörer bietet Sammartini eine musikalische Sprache, die noch immer überraschend und herausfordernd ist.

The structure, as well as the style, is the same in both cantatas: the vocal parts show a typically Italian, operatic virtuosity, while in the instrumental texture, with an orchestra of oboes, horns and strings, we recognise Sammartini’s symphonic characteristics. What struck Sammartini’s contemporaries was the rhythmic vitality and the pursuit of contrasts, in short, the composer’s character, which stood out immediately from the music. To the modern listener, too, Sammartini offers a musical language which is still surprising and challenging.
