Im Paris der »Roaring Twenties« ließen sich nicht nur die Komponisten der Groupe de Six um Cocteau, sondern auch Strawinsky oder Ravel von der Musik in den verschiedenen Music Halls, Variétés und Cabarets inspirieren. Auch Gabriel Pierné (1863-1937) konnte sich der Faszination nicht entziehen und brachte sein »Impressions de music-hall« zu Papier. Bramwell Tovey und das Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg zeichnen ein abwechslungsreiches Bild des Komponisten, der es verdient hätte, auch in Deutschland häufiger gespielt zu werden.
