"Das vorliegende Programm ist eine Hommage an das japanische Volk, das gegenwärtig an den schrecklichen Folgen eines verheerenden Tsunamis und einer beispiellosen Atomkatastrophe leidet. Unsere Absicht ist es, einen wahren Dialog zwischen der japanischen und der iberischen spirituellen Musik aus der Zeit der Ankunft Franz Xavers in Japan vorzustellen.
Franz Xaver ging 1549 in Begleitung portugiesischer Missionare in Kagoshima an Land. Auf dem Weg zur Insel Hirado, wo sich eine westliche Gemeinschaft etabliert hatte, pflegte er während des Marsches religiöse Psalmen zu singen, und die einheimische Bevölkerung war so fasziniert, dass sie in großer Zahl von weit herkam, um diesen hohen jesuitischen Würdenträger vorbeiziehen zu sehen."
