The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Geburtstag bekam Andrew Litton eine Klavier-Solo-LP mit Oscar Peterson geschenkt – und war gefesselt: „Wenn ich jemals irgendwas wie einen Gottesdienst erlebt habe – das war es!“ Petersons Spiel fasziniert ihn bis heute: „die erstaunlichen Farben, das Gesangliche, die Pedaltechnik, die Harmonien...“ Über die Jahre stellte Litton fest, dass er keineswegs der einzige „klassische“ Pianist war und ist, den Peterson fasziniert. Littons Auswahl von Transkriptionen Petersonscher Improvisationen umfasst 12 Klassiker über einen Zeitraum von vier Dekaden.
