Klappentext
*Oh, the Places We Went!*It is mainly about my father and the places we traveled with him as he progressed with the Alzheimer's Dementia disease. Yes, we literally traveled with him, but this is more about the places he took us as his mind continued to go back in time. My grandmother also had this disease, so we learned somethings with her that helped us with Dad.
My family always tries to be of service to people in need, as people observed us with our father, they started to approach us and ask us how we would handle a situation with a loved one who also had Alzheimer's and Dementia. Our phone numbers were given out to talk to family members going through similar situations and sometimes we were even invited to chat over a lunch or dinner to give tips, information or to just listen and let them know they weren't alone in this process. It became obvious that how we maneuvered and did things for Dad and Grandma may be of service to others. With the encouragement of friends and family, I put pen to paper and started writing vignettes mostly about my father and some about my grandmother. They are true stories of things that we experienced and did that will leave you laughing, crying or have you scratching your head in wonder.
For those who have had gone on this journey with your loved ones, you will probably see and recognize different stories that you yourself may have experienced. I hope those memories bring back love and laughter for you. For those just getting their tickets and are boarding the vessel for this journey, I hope you may find some insights and items that may assist you in your care for your loved one.
Above all else, I hope you laugh! That's what my dad was all about, humor. He loved to make us laugh! As you will see in many of these stories, that his sense of humor never left him. He would be thrilled to know that not only did his story have the potential to help you and give you some tips in the care of your loved one. But to laugh at and with him as you read the stories of his travels.
What a Trip!
