Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire is a commune in the department of Indre-et-Loire in central France. It is located northwest of Tours on the other side of the Loire. As of 1999 it has a population of 16, 100. In 2005 the town's population was estimated at 16, 421. It is the third largest city in the Tours department, behind only Tours and Joué-lès-Tours. Indre-et-Loire is one of the original 83 départements created during the French Revolution on 4 March 1790. It was created from the former province of Touraine.
