Racismis a systemic problem that continues to affect Blackpeople in the United States (DeGruy, 2017). Racism, as discussed by Chaney and Robertson (2013), is"the ideology or belief system, designed to justify and rationalize racial and ethnic inequality" (p. 2). Racismis further defined as a function of social control that seeks tokeep perceptions of Blackpeople unidimensional and negative, which perpetuates oppression and structural abuses against them (Feagin, 2020). One of the most prolific and concrete examples of systemic racism against Black people is police brutality (Lyle &Esmail, 2016).
