Biografie (Robert Menasse)
Robert Menasse wurde am 21. Juni 1954 in Wien geboren. Menasse studierte in Wien, Salzburg und Messina Germanistik, Philosophie und Politikwissenschaft und promovierte 1980. Von 1981 bis 1988 arbeitete er an der Universität Sao Paulo in Brasilien als Assistent am Institut für Literaturtheorie. Seither ist der Schriftsteller und Essayist als freier Publizist tätig. 1990 wurde Robert Menasse als erster mit dem Heimito-von-Doderer-Preis ausgezeichnet. Der Schriftsteller, der auch als Übersetzer aus dem brasilianischen Portugiesisch arbeitet, lebt in Wien und Amsterdam. 2002 wurde er mit dem Friedrich-Hölderlin-Preis, dem Marie-Luise-Kaschnitz-Preis und dem Lion-Feuchtwanger-Preis sowie 2003 mit dem Erich-Fried-Preis ausgezeichnet. 2017 erhielt er zudem den Deutschen Buchpreis.
