Biografie (Raymond Roussel)
Raymond Roussel wurde 1877 in Paris in eine reiche Familie geboren. Er besuchte das Konservatorium für Musik und entschied sich, auf der Suche nach "Weltruhm", für die Dichtung. Mit 19 Jahren veröffentlichte er sein erstes Werk La Doublure; 1909 erschienen die Impressions d'Afrique; die von Skandalen begleiteten Theaterbearbeitungen seiner Werke machten ihn in Paris berühmt. 1933 nahm er sich während eines Aufenthalts in Palermo das Leben. In der französischen Nationalbibliothek in Paris sind verschiedene Fassungen von Locus Solus und über 400 unveröffentlichte Seiten aufbewahrt. Das Werk von Raymond Roussel erfährt zunehmend, auch in Ausstellungen, eine Wiederentdeckung.
