Ragnarok: The Age of Fire and Gravel is a book by Minnesota politician Ignatius L. Donnelly published during 1883. It is a companion to the more well-known work Atlantis: The Antediluvian World. In it, Donnelly proposes that a comet or asteroid impacted the Earth tens of thousands of years ago, destroying an advanced culture which has been preserved in myths as Atlantis and other, similar, destroyed lands. Atlantis: The Antediluvian World is a book published during 1882 by Minnesota populist politician Ignatius L. Donnelly, who was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during 1831. Donnelly considered Plato's account of Atlantis as largely factual and attempted to establish that all known ancient civilizations were descended from this supposed lost land.
