Rafael Sabatini, 1875 in Italien geboren, 1950 gestorben, ist der Großmeister des historischen Romans und internationaler Bestsellerautor, der Vorlagen für Hollywoodfilme lieferte. Die Verfilmung seines Romans Captain Blood (Unter Piratenflagge) diente Errol Flynn als Karrieresprungbrett.
