Biografie
Peter Handke, geboren am 6. Dezember 1942 in Griffen (Kärnten), Sohn einer zur slowenischen Minderheit in Österreich gehörenden Mutter und einem deutschen Vater, besuchte zwischen 1954 und 1959 das Gymnasium in Tanzenberg und das dazugehörige Internat. Nach dem Abitur im Jahr 1961 studierte er in Graz Jura. Im März 1966, Peter Handke hat sein Studium vor der letzten und abschließenden Prüfung abgebrochen, erscheint sein erster Roman, im selben Jahr erfolgt die Inszenierung seines inzwischen legendären Theaterstücks "Publikumsbeschimpfung" in Frankfurt in der Regie von Claus Peymann. Seitdem hat er zahlreiche Erzählungen und Prosawerke verfasst. Darüber hinaus hat Peter Handke viele Prosawerke und Stücke von Schriftsteller-Kollegen ins Deutsche übertragen. Sein Werk wurde mit vielen internationalen Preisen geehrt, u. a. 2014 mit dem Ibsen Award und 2015 mit dem Else-Lasker-Schüler-Dramatikerpreis. 2019 erhält er den Nobelpreis für Literatur.
