He explores how the texts of the theological definitions of the seven councils, as well as excerpts from other key texts, were provided in Greek with English translation. With this forensic examination, provides much needed insight and hope to the schism between two church families.

Bouteneff argues for a fresh approach to the authority of tradition, in order to bridge the gap between modern-day movements towards reunion and the Church Fathers' discernment of division and disagreement.
