Biography
Paul Bourget (1852 - 1935), geboren im nordfranzösischen Amiens, studierte Medizin, bevor er als Journalist und Essayist mit dem Schreiben begann. Zunächst ganz dem Naturalismus verpflichtet, wurde Bourget mit "Un crime d' amour" (1886) zum Schöpfer des psychologischen Romans, der in "Un coeur de femme" (1890) einen seiner Höhepunkte fand. In den späteren Werken entwickelte er sich nach einer radikalen Kehrtwende zum Anwalt eines strengen Katholizismus.Notes:
