Biography

Patrick Hamilton, geb. 1904 in Sussex, war einer der talentiertesten Schriftsteller seiner Generation. Berühmt wurde er bei uns vor allem mit seinen Theaterstücken 'Gaslicht' (Gaslight) und 'Cocktail für eine Leiche' (Rope), die beide verfilmt wurden, letzteres 1948 von Alfred Hitchcock mit James Stewart in der Hauptrolle. 'Hangover Square', 1941 erschienen, ist in England Kult und Liebhaber bezahlen für die Erstausgabe exorbitante Preise. In seinen letzten Lebensjahren brauchte Patrick Hamilton 'den Whisky wie ein Auto das Benzin'. Er starb 1962.
