Biography
Owen Chase, geb. 1798 in Nantucket, fuhr sehr früh auf den traditionellen Walfangschiffen seiner Heimat zur See. 1819 Einschiffung auf der Essex als erster Maat. Ab 1832 war er Kapitän auf verschiedenen Walfängern und starb 1869 in seiner Heimatstadt.Notes:
