Ohalo II is the archeological site in Israel's Rift Valley that holds the earliest evidence of the Neolithic Revolution-a period when humans abandoned their hunter-gatherer lifestyle and relied on agriculture and domesticated animals for survival. The site is significant for several reasons. The Neolithic Revolution was previously thought to have started around 8, 000 BC, but Ohalo II dates to around 21, 000 BC. In addition, archeologists are able to gain a comprehensive view of the lives of the people that lived at Ohalo II since most of the organic matter at the site was almost perfectly preserved.
