Masashi Kishimoto, geb. 1974 in einer kleinen Stadt der Okayama Präfektur in Südwestjapan, fing mit 16 Jahren an eigene Manga zu zeichnen. Zur Zeit arbeitet er für Shueisha Inc. für das Weekly Shonen Jump Magazin.
