Biography
Leo Lionni, geb. 1910 in Amsterdam. Während einer wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Ausbildung in Italien und der Schweiz wandte er sich gleichzeitig immer mehr der Malerei und Grafik zu. 1939 emigrierte er in die USA und arbeitete als Artdirector für bekannte Magazine und Firmen. 1962 ließ er sich als freischaffender Künstler in Italien nieder. Im selben Jahr startete er sein großes Bilderbuch-Oeuvre. Leo Lionni starb im Oktober 1999.
