Biography
Der Theologe und Historiker Julius Wellhausen (1844-1918) gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Denker des 19. Jahrhunderts. Er hat vor allem maßgeblich die Forschung zum Alten Testament beeinflusst und die moderne Bibelkritik vorangebracht. Nach ihm benannt ist die Wellhausen Schule .Seine beruflichen Stationen waren: seit 1870 Tätigkeit als Privatdozent in Göttingen, zwei Jahre später Ernennung zum ordentlichen Professor für Altes Testament in Greifswald, seit 1882 außerordentlicher Professor für semitische Sprachen in Halle/Saale und 1885 in Marburg. Seit 1892 lehrte er an der Universität Göttingen. Neben der Theologie war die Orientalistik Wellhausens Hauptgebiet.Notes:
