Biography
John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873) war einer der bedeutendsten politischen Philosophen und der vielleicht bedeutendste angelsächsische Philosoph des 19. Jahrhunderts. Als Hauptvertreter des Utilitarismus widmete er sich in seinem Werk vor allem Fragen der politischen Freiheit, des Allgemeinwohls und den Grenzen des Staates. Er verfasste darüber hinaus eine Frühschrift des Feminismus sowie eine Erörterung der Grundfragen der politischen Ökonomie.
