Biografie
Harry Crews (1935 - 2012) wurde im berüchtigten Mahon County, Georgia, in bitterarmen, typischen White-Trash-Verhältnissen geboren. Nach einem dreijährigen Dienst als Marine, unter anderem in Korea, konnte er an der University of Florida studieren wo er 1968 zum Professor für Literatur ernannt wurde und 30 Jahre lang unterrichtete. Mit seinen 16 Romanen, darunter The Gospel Singer und A Feast of Snakes , und der Autobiographie A Childhood: The Biography of a Place erwarb er sich den Ruf eines Kult-Autors.
