Biography (Auguste Comte)

Auguste Comte (1798 - 1857) gilt als Begründer des Positivismus und der Soziologie. Comte lebte als Privatgelehrter und Schriftsteller; alle Versuche, eine akademische Position zu erhalten, scheiterten. Bis zu seinem Tod am 5. September 1857 in Paris war er auf die finanzielle Unterstützung seiner Freunde und Anhänger angewiesen.
