Elly Griffiths ist Autorin. Sie lebt mit ihrer Familie in der Nähe von Brighton. Die Idee zur Figur von Ruth Galloway hatte sie, als ihr Mann seinen Job als Banker aufgab, um Archäologe zu werden. Dazu kamen die Mythen und Legenden, die ihre in Norfolk lebende Tante früher immer erzählte.
