Edith Holden wurde 1871 in Norton (Worcester) als Tochter eines Farbenfabrikanten geboren. Nach dem Besuch einer Kunstschule trat sie als Buchillustratorin, insbesondere als Zeichnerin von Tieren, hervor. Nach ihrer Heirat mit dem Bildhauer Ernest Smith wohnte die Künstlerin in London. Edith Holden ist 1920 verstorben.
