Klappentext
Historic vehicles represent not only technical cultural heritage, but also living European mobility history. However, their cross-border use is becoming increasingly difficult due to legal, tax and environmental policy hurdles. What used to be taken for granted - participating in international tours, travelling through several countries, accessing old town centres - is becoming increasingly complicated today. Environmental zones, national special regulations and a lack of mutual recognition are putting the freedom of movement of classic cars across Europe to the test. This reference book systematically analyses the current legal situation regarding the registration, use, taxation and entry of classic cars in all member states of the European Union as well as in the United Kingdom and Switzerland. The focus is on the legal differences between countries, the growing complexity of local environmental regulations and their impact on cross-border traffic with historic vehicles. Particular attention is paid to environmental zones in Europe - their legal basis, practical implementation and the resulting restrictions for classic vehicles. European law, in particular the fundamental freedoms of the internal market and the case law of the European Court of Justice, is also critically examined in the context of classic car use. In addition, the book develops forward-looking proposals for solutions: from the mutual recognition of national classic car regulations and legally secure exemptions to a constitutional balance between environmental protection and the protection of cultural heritage. Bremen University Press has published over 4, 800 specialist books in various languages since 2005.
