Biografie
Arthur Rimbaud wurde 1854 in Charleville (Ardennen) geboren. Sein Werk entstand in nur vier Jugendjahren. Mit fünfzehn begann er zu schreiben, bald darauf floh er aus seiner Provinzheimat nach Paris, wo er mit Paul Verlaine zusammenlebte - bis dieser ihn bei einem Streit durch einen Pistolenschuß verletzte und dafür zwei Jahre ins Gefängnis musste. 1874 wandte sich Rimbaud von der Literatur ab und widmete sich ausschließlich dem "Kapitalerwerb", u. a. als Waffenhändler in Afrika. Ein Knietumor zwang ihn zur Rückkehr nach Frankreich, wo er 1891 starb.
