Angela Y. Davis is a political activist, scholar, author, and speaker. Biography
Angela Yvonne Davis ist Professorin für Mentalitätsgeschichte an der University of California in Santa Cruz. Sie ist in zahlreichen Organisationen tätig gewesen, die gegen die Repression im Umkreis des Gefängnissystems kämpfen. Ihr Eintreten für politische Gefangene trug ihr drei Mordanklagen mit möglicher Verhängung der Todesstrafe und sechzehn Monate Haft bis zu ihrem Prozess ein. Nach einer hochgradig öffentlichkeitswirksamen Kampagne zu ihrer Freilassung wurde sie schließlich 1972 freigesprochen.
