Biografie
Anaïs Nin wurde 1903 als Tochter eines katalanischen Musikers und einer Dänin in Paris geboren. Der Vater verließ die Familie, als Anaïs Nin elf Jahre alt war, die Mutter siedelte daraufhin mit ihren drei Kindern nach New York um. Verheiratet mit dem Bankier Hugh Parker Guiler, war Nin gleichzeitig Gefährtin und Muse berühmter Zeitgenossen wie Henry Miller. Neben Romanen, Kurzgeschichten und Erotika wurde sie vor allem durch ihre Tagebücher weltberühmt. Anaïs Nin starb 1977 in Los Angeles.
