Biography (Fritz Reuter)
Fritz Reuter: 1810 geboren im mecklenburgischen Stavenhagen, 1831 Reifezeugnis und danach Jura-Studium in Rostock und Jena. Inhaftierung 1833 wegen "hochverräterischer burschenschaftlicher Verbindungen", Verurteilung zu 30-jähriger Festungshaft, Begnadigung 1840. Hochzeit mit Louise Kuntze 1851. Schriftstellerische Tätigkeit anfangs auf Hochdeutsch, später mit viel Erfolg auf Niederdeutsch. Der über die deutschen Grenzen hinaus bekannte Schriftsteller verstirbt 1874 in seiner Villa im thüringischen Eisenach.Notes:
