Biografie

Nils Melzer, Jahrgang 1970, ist Professor für internationales Recht und lehrt in Glasgow und Genf. 2016 wurde er vom Menschenrechtsrat der Vereinten Nationen zum Sonderberichterstatter für Folter ernannt. Seit 2019 ist er überdies Vizepräsident des Internationalen Instituts für humanitäres Völkerrecht (IIHL) in Sanremo. Vorher war er als sicherheitspolitischer Berater der Schweizer Regierung tätig sowie als Rechtsberater und Abgesandter in Kriegs- und Krisengebieten für das Internationale Komitee vom Roten Kreuz (IKRK).
