Biography
Karel Capek (1890-1938) hat wie kein anderer tschechischer Schriftsteller die geistigen Tendenzen der zwanziger und dreißiger Jahre seines Landes in seinem Werk gespiegelt, auch die politischen und kulturellen Bedrohungen. Capek war ein äußerst vielseitiger Autor: Er schrieb phantastische, satirische und philosophische Romane, und er war in der großen wie in der kleinen Form sowie in der Dramatik zu Hause.
