John Patrick Shirley, 1954 in Houston/Texas geboren, ist Vorreiter des modernen Cyberpunk, Vorbild und Entdecker von William Gibson ("Neuromancer"), ist Punkmusiker und mit etlichen Literaturpreisen ausgezeichneter Schriftsteller. John Shirley schrieb auch die Drehbücher für Fan-Serien wie "STAR TREK" - "Deep Space 9" und "Poltergeist" sowie für den Kultfilm "The Crow".
