Ezra Pound, geb. 1885 in Hailey, Idaho. Studium der Komparatistik und Romanistik. Lebte in London, Paris und Rapallo. Hielt im Zweiten Weltkrieg über Radio Rom antiamerikanische Propagandareden. 1945 in amerikanischer Gefangenschaft (Pisaner Cantos). 1946-58 im St. Elizabeth's Hospital for the Criminally Insane, Washington. 1947 Bollingen Prize. Starb 1972 in Venedig.
