Bedingt durch seine Herkunft (Vater Mathematikprofessor - Mutter Kirchenmusikerin) waren für ihn Wissenschaft und Religion keine Gegensätze und diese Kombination in seinen Veröffentlichungen machte ihn als Autor weltbekannt.Er lebt mit seiner Frau in Neuengland.
