Biography (Anne Frank)
Anne Frank, 1929 in Frankfurt am Main geboren, flüchtete 1933 mit ihren Eltern vor den Nazis nach Amsterdam. Nachdem die Nazi-Armee 1940 die Niederlande überfiel und besetzte, 1942 außerdem Maßnahmen gegen die jüdische Bevölkerung in Kraft traten, versteckte sich ihre Familie in einem Hinterhaus an der Prinsengracht. Sie wurden im August 1944 von Nazi-Schergen nach Auschwitz verschleppt. Anne Frank starb im März 1945 in Bergen-Belsen. (Der genaue Todestag ist nicht bekannt.)Biography (Mirjam Pressler)
Mirjam Pressler wurde 1940 in Darmstadt geboren - ein uneheliches Kind jüdischer Abstammung, das bei Pflegeeltern aufwuchs. In Frankfurt besuchte sie die Hochschule für Bildende Künste. Sie hat drei inzwischen erwachsene Töchter und fünf Enkelkinder. Die Liste der Berufe, die sie ausgeübt hat, ist lang. Ihre ersten Bücher schrieb sie nachts, neben Beruf, Familie und Haushalt.§Gleich für ihre ersten Roman bekam sie den Oldenburger Jugendbuchpreis. Seit vielen Jahren schreibt sie hauptberuflich für und über Kinder und ihre Probleme. Für ihre eigenen Bücher und die Übersetzungen aus dem Hebräischen und dem niederländisch-flämischen Sprachraum hat Mirjam Pressler viele Preise und Auszeichnungen erhalten, 1998 wurde sie mit dem deutschen Bundesverdienstkreuz ausgezeichnet, 2001 mit der Carl-Zuckmayer-Medaille für Verdienste um die deutsche Sprache und 2004 mit dem Deutschen Bücherpreis für ihr literarisches Lebenswerk. 2013 erhielt sie die Buber-Rosenzweig-Medaille.§Mirjam Pressler lebt in der Nähe von München.
