Biografie

Alissa Walser, geboren 1961, studierte in New York und Wien Malerei. Seit 1987 lebt sie als Übersetzerin und Malerin in Frankfurt am Main. Für ihre Erzählung "Geschenkt" wurden ihr 1992 der Ingeborg-Bachmann-Preis und der Bettina-von-Arnim-Preis verliehen. Als Übersetzerin hat Alissa Walser die Tagebücher von Sylvia Plath sowie Theaterstücke u. a. von Joyce Carol Oates, Edward Albee, Marsha Norman und Christopher Hampton ins Deutsche übertragen. 2009 erhielt sie für Ihre Übersetzung der Gedichte Sylvia Plaths den Paul-Scheerbart-Preis. Ihre eigenen Erzählungen wurden in englischer Übersetzung u.a. in literarischen Zeitungen wie Open City und Grand Street veröffentlicht.
