Die Familienharmonien der Sha La Das zu hören, war für Thomas Brenneck, Produzent für Dunham Records/Daptone und selbst Musiker, ein Erweckungserlebnis. Ihm war sofort klar, dass er sie aufnehmen musste.
Die vier Schaldas – Vater Bill, Sohn Will aka Swivs (der bereits als Keyboarder für Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires auf Tour war), Sohn Paul (von Paul & The Tall Trees sowie ebenfalls von den Extraordinaires) und Sohn Carmine – waren ins Studio gekommen, um Backgroundgesang für »Victim of Love« von Charles Bradley aufzunehmen. Es war ihre Leidenschaft, die Brenneck sofort einnahm. »Bill ist ein Original, der genauso wie Charles Bradley und Sharon Jones direkt vom Ursprung dieser Musik kommt«, sagt Brenneck. In Bills Fall geht es dabei um die Hochzeiten von Doo-Wop und R&B-Gruppen wie die Moonglows und die Flamingos.
