Nur wenige wissen, dass The Damned eine ganze Reihe von Songs mit melodischer, harmonischer und rhythmischer Raffinesse, mit viel Fantasie und Atmosphäre geschaffen haben. Sie waren die Speerspitze des britischen Punk, und doch flossen vielfältige musikalische Einflüsse in ihren Schmelztiegel ein: Britische und US-amerikanische Psychedelia, Prog-Rock aus Canterbury und sogar klassische und filmische musikalische Einflüsse sind reichlich vorhanden.
Im Jahr 2025, mit der Rückkehr von Schlagzeuger Rat Scabies, ist die Besetzung dieselbe wie bei der Entstehung vieler dieser Songs - mit Monty an den Tasten. Monty Oxymoron ist seit 1996 Keyboarder bei The Damned, hat Songs für die Band geschrieben und davor mit Captain Sensible und Dr. Space Toad gespielt. Er ist ein pensionierter psychiatrischer Krankenpfleger und hat eine Ausbildung in Kunstpsychotherapie. Monty ist begeistert von »freier Improvisation« und spielt in und um Brighton, wo er lebt.
