Die neue, erweiterte Edition
Im letzten Jahr veröffentlichten Erasure ihr neues Album »The Neon«. 2021 legt das britische Synthpop-Duo nun auch noch einen ihrer Klassiker neu auf, und zwar als neue Expanded Edition auf Doppel-CD: »I Say I Say I Say«.
»I Say I Say I Say« ist das sechste Album aus dem Hause Vince Clarke und Andy Bell. Es wurde 1993 im Studio 37B in Chertsey, Surrey aufgenommen, zusammen mit Martyn Ware von den Synthpop-Veteranen The Human League und Heaven 17. Clarke setzte seine typische und ausschließliche Verwendung von analogen Synthesizern und Sequenzern fort.
Die Platte erschien ursprünglich am 16. Mai 1994 und war Erasures viertes Nummer-eins-Album in Großbritannien in Folge. Zu den bekanntesten Songs gehören die Singles »Always«, »Run To The Sun« und »I Love Saturday«. Andy Bell beschrieb »I Say I Say I Say« einst wie folgt: »Ich denke, es ist spannend, es ist sehr stimmungsvoll, es ist gut, um es als Erstes am Morgen zu hören, es ist gut, um es als Letztes am Abend zu hören, es ist gut für die Kopfhörer, […] es ist gut, um es im Auto zu hören, auf dem Walkman.«
Für die erweiterte Neuauflage wurde das Album komplett remastert. Zudem warten sechs B-Seiten sowie 16 weitere Bonustracks auf CD 2, darunter seltene und unveröffentlichte Remixe, BBC-Aufnahmen, alternative Mixe und Demos.
Die »I Say I Say I Say«-Deluxe-Doppel-CD-Edition kommt in einem Casebound Book mit Fotos der Douglas Brothers und brandneuen Sleeve-Notes von Mat Smith. Eine Vinyl-Edition scheint leider bislang nicht in Sicht.
