The Plasmatics were a theatrical hardcore band which incorporated such violent acts as blowing up Cadillacs and chainsawing guitars in half into its performances in 1980. They signed for Stiff Records in 1980 and enjoyed plenty of music and tabloid press attention, mainly focused on front woman Wendy O Williams who had the habit of wearing very little for pictures.
The album "New Hope For The Wretched" charted in the top 75 along with the single "Butcher Baby". This release brings together the original 12 track album, two studio tracks delivered but not originally used and five additional live tracks. The live tracks are tight, loud and edgy and show that the band could really live up to the hype on stage.
