Auf der musikalischen Seite macht die Platte einen kräftigen Satz nach vorn im Vergleich zu El-Ps 2010er Instrumental-Training "Weareallgoingtoburninhellmeggamixxx3" und addiert mechanische Synths, kräftige Beats, donnernde Bässe und Live-Instrumentierung zu einem neuen Standard für Hip Hop-Produktionen. Zusätzlich zu El-Ps markant-abstrakten Lyrics featured das Album Interpols Paul Banks, Outkast-Associate und Atlanta-Native Killer Mike, Nick Diamond von der kanadischen Indieband Islands und die exzentrischen Rapper Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire und Danny Brown. Als ein Drittel von Company Flow ebnete El-P den Weg für Experimental Hip Hop. Er
produzierte diverse Hip Hop-Meilensteine und gründete Def Jux Records, das von Pitchfork als "das Motown des Indie Hip-Hop" bezeichnet wird. Darüber hinaus arbeitete er u. a. mit Nine Inch Nails, Beck, Cat Power, Zach de la Rocha und Mos Def zusammen.
