Many of these words were written on the highway, and the songs came to be in our old victorian in Portland, Oregon. Tom & I were married and we took a year off from touring to settle in, to get our feet back on the ground, and to write songs. Many days were spent inside the house, making home, and many hours were spent at the piano. This is the first record with a proper band, and the first time I’ve worked with a producer other than my dad. The songs are near and dear to my heart. There is a heavy, dark side to the record that is balanced by hope and light.
